DropletAbstractSimple log tool that uses a desktop client to post messages to a server application. Messages can be subscribed to using daily or individual RSS feeds or embedded as HTML in other web pages. Messages are stored in a MySQL database. Large amounts of code are part of a separate OSS site held at TwoDeadPixels.com. HistoryAnyone who has ever followed my blogging past has probably noticed that I have a hard time keeping up any journal. While one reason is a lack of inspiration due to a fairly boring student life, the largest part is that my short ideas come far more often than my longer ideas that I use for blog entries. Am I alone? I don't know, but I'm pretty sure that the growth of Facebook and MySpace are pretty good indicators that people don't necessarily have pages upon pages of substance to share with the world. Mostly it's just garbage and the occasional gem What I realized is that I would love a way for me to keep track of my thoughts as I went through the day. Just quick blurbs of information. Maybe I see an old friend or find an amazing tool that I can't justify writing 15 pages about. Or, more often than not, I have something that made me laugh and I have to tell SOMEONE. Unfortunately, I don't have any single friend that want's to hear all of these random ideas. But maybe if I use the power of 'Internet'...yes, maybe a laugh could be found. So Droplet comes into life. Two RSS feeds (individual and daily summary) are coupled with a quick HTML interface. There's even a poorly advertised mechanism that allows for voting on Droplet success, failure, or misdirection. But to get the information there we use a simple Windows UI (read:looking for a Linux/Unix UI developer) in C# to post the messages and the hashed password to the server.
